Drillar provides drilling services for lithium projects in the salt flats (salares) of northwestern Argentina: brine exploration holes, pumping and production wells, and water and monitoring wells, with its own diamond core and rotary rigs.
Drilling is the main tool to evaluate and develop a salar: it reveals the subsurface geology, measures sediment porosity, obtains brine samples at different depths, tests well yields and, at the production stage, extracts the brine.
These are the wells Drillar drills for lithium projects:
Core holes (diamond drilling) to log the geology of the salar, measure sediment porosity and take brine samples at different depths.
Larger-diameter rotary wells for pumping tests, which measure the yield and response of the brine aquifer.
Large-diameter wells to extract brine during the project's production stage.
Fresh water wells to supply camps and processing plants.
Wells to monitor fresh water and brine levels and quality during exploration and operation.
Drillar already works in the Puna of Salta, at Taca Taca, Vendaval and El Quevar, and from April 2027 it adds a base on National Route 51 at El Encón (Salta), on the road to the Puna.
For lithium projects Drillar combines diamond core drilling, for cored exploration holes, and rotary drilling, for pumping, production, water and monitoring wells.
Owned rigs for this service: Boart Longyear LF160, Boart Longyear LF90D, Maqpower H600, Feida FY1000 and Feida FY680.
